Major Security Breach at Srisailam Temple: Devotee Films Deity and Circulates Video Online
In a significant security lapse, a devotee managed to film the main deity, Mallikharjuna Swamy, inside the highly revered Srisailam temple located in Nandyal district, Andhra Pradesh. The individual then circulated the visuals on various social media platforms, sparking widespread outrage among devotees and religious authorities.
Police Register Case After Video Goes Viral
Following the viral spread of the video, which drew sharp criticism from the temple's devotees, the Srisailam Devasthanams authorities took immediate action by lodging a formal complaint. Based on this complaint, the police officially registered a case on Saturday, initiating a thorough investigation into the incident.
According to Atmakur DSP Ramanji Naik, the security breach occurred between midnight on March 18 and the early hours of March 19. The suspect, who is believed to be from Solapur in Maharashtra, allegedly entered the temple's highly restricted Garbhalayam area. Using his mobile phone, he captured the visuals of the deity and later posted them online, violating strict temple protocols and security measures.
Special Police Teams Dispatched to Apprehend Suspect
Taking the matter very seriously, special police teams have been dispatched to Solapur with the primary objective of arresting the accused individual. The teams are also tasked with seizing his mobile phone and any other devices containing the unauthorized temple videos to prevent further dissemination.
This incident has raised serious concerns about the security arrangements at one of India's most prominent temples, prompting calls for enhanced surveillance and stricter access controls to protect the sanctity of such sacred spaces.
