A 58-year-old seer was arrested in Haridwar on Thursday for allegedly molesting a six-year-old girl, according to police officials. The incident took place in a village where the girl was playing near a mango tree when the accused lured her away and committed the offense.
After the girl recounted the traumatic experience to her parents, they immediately filed a complaint with the local police. The authorities acted swiftly and registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
The local Station House Officer (SHO) informed the Times of India that the accused resided in an ashram in the area. On Wednesday evening, while the girl was playing near a mango tree in the village, the seer approached her, lured her, and molested her. Following the registration of the case, the police arrested the accused and presented him before the court. He has been sent to judicial custody as per legal procedures.
