New Delhi: An alleged sex racket, operating under the guise of spa services in south Delhi’s Wazir Nagar, has been busted and three persons, including a woman, have been arrested. Three women from Thailand were among the 15 women rescued from three spas functioning out of a commercial property.
Tip-off and Raid
Police received a tip-off last Wednesday from NGO Mission Mukti Morcha, which alleged that the spas were being used as fronts for sex work. A raiding team was constituted and three police personnel were deployed as decoy customers.
Identification of Accused
At one of the spas, the manager was identified as Tahir, a 25-year-old resident of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, while at another spa, Manju Visht, a 40-year-old resident of East of Kailash, introduced herself as the owner and manager, said police. At the third spa, 34-year-old Guddu Kumar of Govindpuri identified himself as the manager.
Arrests and Rescue
After receiving signals from the decoy customers, the raiding team entered the premises and arrested them on the spot. A fourth person has also been identified by police as another accused. At the first spa, six women, including the three Thai citizens, were found, and five and four women at the other two.
Legal Action
Police said the women were produced before the appropriate authorities. An FIR has been registered under Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act at Kotla Mubarakpur police station.
