Shimla Police Cracks Down on Inter-State Heroin Network with Key Arrest
In a significant development in the fight against narcotics, Shimla police have achieved a major breakthrough by arresting a pivotal figure in an inter-state chitta (heroin) trafficking network. The key supplier, identified as Sanjay alias Ganji, was apprehended from the Mauli Jagran Complex in Chandigarh, marking a crucial step in dismantling the drug supply chain.
Initial Case and Arrests
The operation traces back to an FIR registered at the Kumarsain police station on March 12 under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This case involved the seizure of 12.36 grams of chitta, a potent form of heroin. Following this, police made initial arrests of three individuals: Rahul Larju (27) and Shubham Khanna (31), both residents of Himachal Pradesh, and Vikas Minz (26) from Odisha.
Investigation Leads to Key Supplier
During the subsequent investigation, Shimla police meticulously traced the backward linkages of the drug network, uncovering the role of Sanjay alias Ganji as the chief supplier. Acting on this intelligence, a swift operation was launched, leading to his arrest in Chandigarh. This arrest is expected to provide critical insights into the operations and reach of the inter-state drug supply network, potentially aiding in further crackdowns.
Police Commitment and Public Appeal
Police officials have emphasized that their anti-drug campaign will continue with unwavering rigor. They have urged the public to actively report any drug-related activities, highlighting the importance of community cooperation in eradicating the menace of narcotics from society. This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and protect communities from its harmful effects.
