Shimla Police Seize Over 300 Liquor Bottles in Drive

In a decisive crackdown against illegal liquor trade and smuggling, the Shimla police conducted a special drive across various police station areas on May 12, resulting in the seizure of over 300 liquor bottles. Cases have been registered under the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act against those involved.

Seizures Across the District

During the drive, law enforcement officials recovered large quantities of country liquor and beer from different parts of the district, including Chopal, Rohru, Theog, Sadar, and West Shimla. The largest seizure occurred near Riyuni in Chopal, where 120 bottles of country liquor were confiscated from a car, leading to the arrest of two individuals. Additionally, 72 bottles of ‘Santra No. 1' liquor were seized near the Pulbahal bridge.

In Rohru, police confiscated 65 bottles of liquor and beer. A dhaba in Theog yielded 30 bottles, while a Punjabi dhaba in Shimla's Sabzi Mandi had eight bottles seized. Furthermore, ten bottles were recovered from the Jutogh area.

Legal Action

Authorities have registered cases under the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act, and investigations are ongoing to trace the supply chain of the illicit liquor. The police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal liquor trade.
