A tragic hit-and-run accident on the busy Delhi-Mumbai Expressway claimed the lives of a young brother and sister and left a three-year-old boy critically injured on Friday evening. The incident occurred near Kaili village in Faridabad, sending shockwaves through their local community in Chandawali.
Details of the Fatal Collision
According to officials from Sector 58 police station, the victims were identified as Naveen (22) and his elder sister Neha (25). Neha's three-year-old son, Love, was also on the motorcycle at the time of the horrific crash. The family was returning to their home in Chandawali village when a speeding dumper truck rammed into their two-wheeler from behind.
The force of the impact was so severe that it threw all three riders off the motorcycle. Naveen and Neha were killed on the spot. The driver of the dumper, in a callous act, abandoned his vehicle at the scene and fled, leaving the victims unattended on the expressway.
Child's Condition and Police Investigation
The critically injured toddler, Love, was first rushed to the Faridabad civil hospital for emergency care. Given the seriousness of his injuries, he was later referred and shifted to a specialized hospital in Delhi for advanced treatment.
Inspector Vinod, the Station House Officer of Sector 58 police station, provided an update on the case. "The child is out of danger now and is undergoing treatment in Delhi," he stated. He also confirmed that the police have successfully recovered the offending vehicle, a dumper truck with a Rajasthan registration number. "We have found the dumper and will arrest the driver soon," the officer added, assuring that a manhunt is underway.
Sequence of Events and Legal Action
Police pieced together the family's movements prior to the accident. Neha had been staying at her parental home in Chandawali for the past two days. On Thursday, she, along with her brother Naveen, had visited her in-laws' house. The fatal journey on Friday evening was their return trip to Chandawali, with Neha's young son accompanying them.
Following the accident, the police have registered a formal case under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against an unidentified driver. The investigation is actively progressing to track down the absconding accused.
