Murder in Bengaluru: Sikkim Woman Killed by Boyfriend
A 22-year-old woman from Sikkim, working as a receptionist at a salon in Bengaluru, was found murdered at her rented residence in Doddakannahalli, Bellandur, police said. The victim, identified as Ati Hangma Subba, was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, Purba Lepcha, a hotel waiter from Darjeeling. Police said the accused suspected her fidelity.
Both had come to the city about a month ago in search of work. According to police, the incident took place early on Sunday morning after a heated argument between the two inside their house. The accused allegedly used a kitchen knife to slit the victim’s throat. Police said an investigation is underway.
Background of the Accused and Victim
Purba Lepcha, 25, worked as a waiter in a hotel in Bengaluru. The couple had recently moved to the city from their hometowns. Neighbors reported hearing loud noises from the house but did not intervene. Police recovered the murder weapon from the scene.
Police Investigation
Senior police officials visited the crime scene and have formed a team to investigate. The accused has been taken into custody and is being questioned. A case of murder has been registered under the Indian Penal Code.
