In a shocking incident, Sivaganga district police have arrested three men for the sexual assault of a woman police constable at a secluded location on Friday night. According to police sources, the 30-year-old victim, who is married, had developed a relationship with a man named D Robin, 28, a resident of Thirupuvanam.
Incident Details
On Friday night, after her duty hours, the woman constable went out for dinner with Robin. Subsequently, they proceeded to a remote area where they engaged in consensual sexual relations. Following this, Robin contacted his friend and the woman's former boyfriend, P Maharaja, 25, of Sithalangudi, and asked him to come to the location.
Maharaja arrived accompanied by his friend Hari Rajan, 21. Police reports indicate that Maharaja demanded sexual favors from the constable, which she refused. However, Maharaja and then Hari Rajan proceeded to rape her. When the three men attempted to assault her again, the woman managed to escape and sought help from a man at a nearby farmhouse.
Rescue and Arrest
The farmhouse occupant alerted the police control room, prompting officers to rush to the scene and rescue the woman. Based on her complaint, the All Woman Police registered a case and arrested Robin, Maharaja, and Hari Rajan on Saturday. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
This incident highlights the vulnerability of women even in uniform and underscores the need for stringent action against perpetrators of sexual violence.
