Son Kills Father in Kaushambi Over Family Dispute

Prayagraj: In a tragic incident, a man allegedly shot his father dead near Naya Nagar Dhata road under the limits of Manjhanpur police station in Kaushambi district on Monday morning. The deceased, identified as Ram Naresh (48), was a resident of Chattupur village.

Police Investigation Underway

Upon being alerted, senior police officials along with forces arrived at the spot and carried out investigations. According to eyewitnesses, a youth was carrying his father on a bike. At some distance, he asked the father to step down and shot two bullets at point-blank range in his chest. The critically injured man fell to the ground while the accused son, Rahul (18), managed to escape.

Victim Succumbs to Injuries

The injured man was taken to Manjhanpur district hospital, from where doctors referred him to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj. He succumbed to his injuries there during treatment. The victim was a sanitary worker posted at the district collectorate in Kaushambi, said police.

Family Dispute Suspected

As per initial police investigations, a family dispute is suspected to be the cause behind the killing. Police have formed three police teams to crack the case. Family members told the police that Ram Naresh lived alone and had an illicit relationship with another woman from the same village. He did not support his family financially, and his son was against him for leaving his mother, they said.
