19-Year-Old Son Axes Father to Death Hours Before Scheduled Remarriage in Jalna District
In a shocking incident from Maharashtra's Jalna district, a 19-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly murdering his own father with an axe in the early hours of Thursday. The brutal crime occurred just hours before the victim was scheduled to remarry, following the suicide death of his wife two years earlier.
Premeditated Murder Over Remarriage Objections
Police investigation has revealed that the murder was carefully planned and executed due to the accused's strong objections to his father's decision to remarry. The victim, identified as 45-year-old Dilip Rajguru from Rui village in Ghansawangi taluka, was found lying in a pool of blood inside his home on Thursday morning, creating panic among villagers.
"The accused has confessed to administering sleeping pills to his father through dinner and later attacking him with an axe around 12:30 AM," stated Jalna Superintendent of Police Ajaykumar Bansal. "The murder appears to be directly linked to objections over the second marriage."
Detailed Sequence of Events Leading to Tragedy
According to police officials, the tragic events unfolded systematically:
- A heated argument erupted between father and son around 8:30 PM on Wednesday evening regarding the impending remarriage.
- The accused, identified as Vilas (the elder son of the deceased), subsequently procured sleeping pills.
- Vilas served dinner laced with sleeping pills to ensure his father would become unconscious.
- Around midnight, when the victim was sedated, Vilas allegedly attacked him with multiple axe blows.
- The victim's younger son, who stays at his grandmother's house, was not present during the incident.
Additional Superintendent of Police Ayush Nopany confirmed the premeditated nature of the crime, stating that police are investigating whether another person assisted in the planning or execution of the murder.
Police Investigation and Forensic Evidence
Assistant Inspector Vaishali Pawar reported that a case has been registered against the accused and his suspected accomplice. "Prima facie, multiple axe blows caused the victim's death," she explained. "The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is ongoing to establish the exact sequence of events and involvement of others."
The police revealed several crucial investigative details:
- The victim's brother was the first to alert authorities about the crime.
- During initial questioning, the accused attempted to mislead investigators by claiming he was not at home during the murder.
- His suspicious behavior and inconsistent statements eventually gave him away to experienced investigators.
- The victim's body has been sent for postmortem examination.
