The police in Sonipat on Wednesday claimed to have arrested 58 arms traffickers and offenders during a special 15-day operation aimed at dismantling the district's illegal weapons ecosystem.
Operation Details
The drive, conducted between June 1 and June 15, resulted in the registration of 47 criminal cases and the seizure of 46 country-made pistols, one revolver, two magazines, and 102 live cartridges, according to police officials.

Police officials described the operation as a significant blow to criminal networks that rely on illegal firearms to facilitate violent crimes, extortion, robberies, and gang-related activities across the region.
Investigators stated that the operation was launched to curb the growing circulation of illegal weapons and strengthen law enforcement efforts against habitual offenders and criminal syndicates operating in and around the district.
Criminal Records
According to police data, 14 of the 58 arrested individuals have criminal records, with cases ranging from murder and attempted murder to robbery, snatching, and violations under the Arms Act.
