SP MLA, 4 others booked after 2 brothers found dead in UP

Samajwadi Party MLA and four others have been booked in Uttar Pradesh after two brothers died under mysterious circumstances within 22 days. Police said the bodies of both brothers were found hanging: the younger brother's body was discovered on June 11, and the elder brother, Sushil's body, was found on July 3.

Incident Details

The incident occurred in a village under the jurisdiction of a local police station in Uttar Pradesh. The younger brother, aged 25, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his home. His elder brother, Sushil, aged 30, was found dead in similar circumstances 22 days later. Family members alleged foul play and accused the MLA and others of involvement.

Police Action

Based on a complaint filed by the victims' family, police registered a case against the Samajwadi Party MLA and four other individuals under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including murder and criminal conspiracy. Police have launched an investigation and are examining the possibility of a link between the two deaths.

According to a senior police officer, “The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. We are waiting for the reports to determine the exact cause of death. All angles, including murder and suicide, are being probed.”

Political Reactions

The Samajwadi Party has distanced itself from the MLA, stating that the party does not condone any criminal activity. Opposition parties have demanded a thorough investigation and strict action against the accused.

Local residents expressed shock and demanded justice. “We want a fair inquiry. Two young men have died in suspicious circumstances, and the accused must be punished,” said a neighbor.
