Ayodhya: Former SP MLA Demands Supreme Court-Supervised Probe into Ram Temple Fund Misuse

In a significant development, former Samajwadi Party MLA from Ayodhya and party spokesperson Tej Narain Pandey on Tuesday demanded a Supreme Court-supervised inquiry into the alleged embezzlement of funds meant for the Ram temple. Pandey argued that the temple trust was constituted under the directions of the apex court and, therefore, any probe into financial irregularities linked to it must be monitored by the Supreme Court itself.

Rejection of State-Led Investigation

Pandey categorically rejected the idea of an investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Uttar Pradesh government. He termed such a probe inappropriate for a matter involving what he called public faith and religious donations. According to him, the sanctity of the temple funds demands a higher level of scrutiny that only the Supreme Court can provide.

Call for FIR and Dissolution of Trust

The former MLA questioned why no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered so far despite allegations of large-scale misuse of what he described as “God’s wealth.” He demanded that the temple trust be dissolved immediately. Furthermore, Pandey insisted that until the Supreme Court completes its investigation, all trust members facing allegations should be barred from entering the temple premises.

Pandey’s remarks come amid growing concerns over the management of funds collected for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The temple, a landmark project for the Hindu community, has seen massive donations from devotees across the country.
