Vadodara: A video allegedly showing three individuals offering namaz inside the outpatient department (OPD) building of SSG Hospital in Vadodara has ignited a controversy, prompting the hospital administration to launch a formal inquiry.
Hospital Administration Responds
Confirming the incident, SSG Hospital superintendent Dr. Ranjan Aiyer stated that the administration reviewed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage after the matter was brought to its attention by members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal.
“The video is circulating on social media and we have examined the CCTV footage. The incident took place on Monday evening on the ground floor of the OPD building. The individuals seen in the video appeared to be relatives of a patient and were peacefully offering prayers,” Aiyer said.
Background of the Incident
According to hospital authorities, the group was accompanying a patient who was undergoing dialysis treatment. “They were completing their prayers when someone recorded the video, which was later uploaded on social media,” he added.
Aiyer said that representatives of the VHP and Bajrang Dal met him on Tuesday morning and sought clarification regarding the incident. “They informed me about prayers being offered inside the hospital premises and asked whether I was aware of it. I told them that the matter was being looked into,” he said.
No Disruption to Hospital Services
The superintendent maintained that there was no disruption to hospital services. “They were not obstructing hospital operations or causing inconvenience to patients or visitors. At present, we are only verifying the facts surrounding the incident,” he added.
