According to police reports, while the group was having tea near Gol Market on the campus, an altercation erupted after Harshpreet Singh, along with his associates, arrived at the spot. During the dispute, Harshpreet Singh allegedly fired at Jobanveer Singh with intent to kill and subsequently fled the scene, prompting immediate police action.

Legal Charges and Arrest

A case was registered at Urban Estate Police Station, Patiala, under Sections 109, 115(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 25 of the Arms Act. Acting on specific intelligence, the CIA Patiala team successfully arrested the accused on Thursday.

The accused, Harshpreet Singh, is a resident of Pandta Kheri in Patiala district and is also a student. SSP Sharma confirmed that the accused is currently undergoing interrogation to gather further details about the incident and any potential accomplices.
