A 21-year-old student of Saurashtra University has filed a complaint at the University police station against a city bus driver for allegedly running over her leg inside the campus last month.
Incident Details
According to police, complainant Ishita Gadhecha stated that the incident occurred on April 6 near the statistics department when she and her friend, Priyanka Makwana, were leaving the campus. She claimed that despite stepping aside upon seeing the bus approaching on the wrong side, the driver ran over her leg, causing a fracture-like injury.
Medical Response and Recovery
Gadhecha sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital after an ambulance was called by students and faculty members. Medical examination revealed that she required plastic surgery. She was discharged on April 10 and advised a month of bed rest.
Delay in Filing Complaint
Police noted that the student approached them after a delay as she was recovering from surgery and had ongoing university examinations.
Legal Action
A case has been registered under Sections 281 and 125(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
