In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, an administrative team conducted a raid at the residence of a former nagar panchayat chairman in Dostpur, Sultanpur, recovering a total of 42 LPG cylinders. The raid targeted the house of Rajaram located in the Kanshiram Colony of Babhnaiya Purab ward. Led by sub-divisional magistrate Uttam Tiwari and circle officer Vinay Gautam, the team seized 7 filled and 35 empty LPG cylinders. Officials stated that the action followed multiple complaints from residents about cylinders being illegally transported into the town and sold at inflated prices, exploiting the current supply crisis.
Authorities suspect that the cylinders were part of a diversion scheme from a gas agency operated by Rajaram's relatives near Gosainganj. These cylinders were allegedly rerouted and sold in the local market, bypassing legitimate distribution channels. Following the seizure, all recovered cylinders were transported to the police station for verification, and one individual was taken into custody as part of the investigation.
