Surat Gang Rape Case: Husband and Three Friends Booked for Assault After Liquor Party
In a shocking incident from Surat, a 22-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by her 35-year-old husband and three of his friends at their home in the Kapodra area in May 2025. The assault occurred during a liquor party organized by the husband, who invited his friends over, leading to a night of violence that has now resulted in criminal charges.
Police Investigation and Arrests Underway
Kapodra police have registered a case of gang rape against all four men and launched a thorough investigation. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Alok Kumar provided an update, stating, "We have apprehended three accused, including the husband. The fourth accused is currently living in Dubai. We will initiate proceedings to issue a look-out circular (LOC) against him." This move aims to ensure the suspect's arrest upon any attempt to enter India.
Background of the Victim and Marriage
The victim, who worked in marketing in 2023, met the prime accused during a professional assignment. He introduced himself as a share trader and offered her a job, leading to an interview at an office in Vesu. Their relationship developed over phone conversations, and despite her family's opposition, they married in May 2024.
In October 2024, she moved out of her parents' home to live with her husband in Kapodra. However, the marriage quickly turned abusive. Within three months, her husband allegedly began assaulting and verbally abusing her. She also discovered his involvement in liquor sales, which added to her distress.
The Night of the Assault
In May 2025, the husband hosted a liquor party at their home, inviting three friends. After consuming alcohol, the situation escalated when the friends quarreled with the victim and physically assaulted her. Subsequently, all four men allegedly took turns raping her. Following the crime, the husband threatened her, warning that she should remain silent if she wanted to stay alive.
Aftermath and Legal Action
In June 2025, the husband abandoned the victim, forcing her to live as a paying guest. It wasn't until February 2026 that her cousin contacted her, urging her to return home. Upon reuniting with her family, she revealed the gang rape ordeal. Her family members advised her to file a formal complaint, which she did with Kapodra police, leading to the current investigation.
This case highlights severe issues of domestic violence and sexual assault, underscoring the need for stronger legal protections and community awareness. The police are continuing their efforts to bring all perpetrators to justice, emphasizing the importance of victim support in such traumatic situations.
