Surat Murder Case: Punjab Worker Killed by Roommates After Heated Argument

Police in Surat have registered a murder case following the brutal killing of a 32-year-old industrial worker from Punjab. The incident occurred in Junagam, under the jurisdiction of the Hazira police station. The victim, identified as Shera Singh, was allegedly murdered by his two roommates after a quarrel.

Details of the Incident and Victim

Shera Singh, aged 32, was a native of Dhadialanatt village in Gurdaspur district, Punjab. He worked as an industrial laborer in the Hazira area. According to the police complaint, he shared a rented room with two other men from Punjab.

The room was part of a 14-room property owned by Mehul Patel in Junagam. Patel had rented Room No. 1 to a labor contractor named Deepu Singh, who works with an L&T contractor in Hazira. At Deepu Singh's request, the room was allotted to Shera Singh and Sarabjit Singh, another resident of Dhadialanatt village.

A few days later, a third man, Amrik Singh, aged 30 and from Asal Uttar village in Tarn Taran district, Punjab, also moved into the same room. Patel reported to the police that he frequently witnessed the three men engaged in heated arguments. He had warned them multiple times to stop quarreling.

Discovery of the Crime and Police Response

On the evening of January 17, Mehul Patel visited the premises and noticed the door of Room No. 1 was open. Upon entering, he found Shera Singh lying injured and bleeding. The victim had wounds on his head, eyes, and other parts of his body.

Patel immediately informed the police, called an ambulance, and alerted Deepu Singh. During a search of the room and the surrounding area, Sarabjit Singh and Amrik Singh were found missing. Their mobile phones were switched off, which raised strong suspicion of their involvement in the crime.

Shera Singh was declared dead while being transported to the hospital. A post-mortem examination later revealed multiple injuries to his head, face, throat, and body. The injuries were caused by both blunt and sharp weapons, indicating a violent attack.

Investigation and Accused Fleeing

The Hazira police have registered a murder case against both accused, Sarabjit Singh and Amrik Singh. Investigators believe the two men fled to their native villages in Punjab soon after the incident. In response, the police have sent a team to Punjab to track down the suspects.

Authorities are working to determine the exact motive behind the murder, though initial reports suggest it stemmed from ongoing quarrels among the roommates. The case highlights tensions among migrant workers living in crowded conditions in industrial areas like Surat.

Local residents have expressed shock over the incident, calling for increased police vigilance in labor accommodations. The investigation is ongoing, with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
