Surat Police Launches Independent Inquiry into Aether Industries Warehouse Fire
In Surat, police have commenced an independent inquiry into a fire that erupted at the warehouse of Aether Industries Limited, located in the Hojiwala Industrial Estate in Sachin. The blaze, which raged for nearly three hours, has prompted a thorough investigation to uncover the cause and extent of the damage.
Forensic Evidence Collection Underway
As part of the investigation, police have collected samples of debris from the affected site with assistance from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). These samples will be analyzed to identify the type of material damaged in the fire. A police officer stated, "FSL officials collected samples from the spot, and police are examining what kind of material was stored in the warehouse. Statements of people present at the premises will also be recorded to ascertain how the fire started."
Police have registered an information complaint and initiated the inquiry. Preliminary findings indicate that a few staff members were present when the fire broke out, but they managed to evacuate immediately upon noticing the flames, thereby preventing any casualties.
Company Officials Provide Details on Damage
An official from Aether Industries Limited clarified that the affected structure was a shed adjoining another main warehouse where stock is stored, and the main facility did not suffer any damage. The official explained, "Both the premises are located away from our plant, which remained safe due to timely efforts to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading." Additionally, the functioning fire-fighting system was credited with saving a significant quantity of material stored in the warehouse.
Regulatory Bodies Step In for Further Investigation
Meanwhile, the warehouse has been sealed by the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health to facilitate further investigation. The Gujarat Pollution Control Board has also begun an inquiry to assess any potential environmental impact from the incident, ensuring comprehensive scrutiny of the fire's aftermath.
