Surat Twin Suicides: Heartbreak After Break-Ups Led College Girls to Extreme Step

In a deeply tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, preliminary investigations into the shocking twin suicides of two college girls in Surat on the night of March 6 have revealed that the teenagers may have taken the extreme step after being heartbroken following break-ups with their boyfriends within a span of just two weeks. The devastating development came to light after senior police officials examined digital evidence and recorded crucial statements.

Digital Evidence Points to Relationship Turmoil

Senior police officials confirmed that investigators carefully examined chat histories on the victims' mobile phones and recorded detailed statements from the two boys involved. Both young men confirmed that they had been in relationships with the girls, providing critical context to the tragedy. Assistant Commissioner of Police N P Gohil elaborated on the findings, stating that the digital conversations clearly indicated both girls had been involved in romantic relationships.

"Further inquiry revealed that one of the girls had been in a relationship for about two months, while the other had been involved for around one-and-a-half years," Gohil explained. "We called the boys for verification and both confirmed the relationships. They told police that they had stopped speaking to the girls following misunderstandings that arose between them."

Temple Tragedy: The Final Moments

The two friends, aged 18 and 20 years old, allegedly injected themselves with an anaesthetic drug in the washroom of the Atmiya Sanskar Dham Swaminarayan temple located in Saniya village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Dindoli police station. Police discovered vials of drugs and syringes near the victims at the scene, adding to the grim evidence of their planned action.

During the subsequent investigation, police uncovered a heartbreaking detail: after injecting themselves, one of the girls managed to call a common friend. Unfortunately, the friend was asleep at that critical moment and could not answer the call. The victim then sent a final message asking her to inform her boyfriend's sister about the drastic step they had taken.

AI Tools Used to Research Suicide Methods

In a disturbing revelation that highlights how technology can facilitate tragic outcomes, police confirmed that the victims had used artificial intelligence tools to search for ways to die by suicide. Their digital search history showed multiple queries including:

  • Information about rat poison and its effects
  • Details about specific drugs that could be lethal
  • Search terms like "help for death" indicating their desperate state of mind
  • Searches about alcohol percentage and the use of injections

This digital trail provides crucial insight into the methodical planning that preceded the tragic event.

Background of the Victims and Ongoing Investigation

All four individuals involved—the two girls and their former boyfriends—were originally from Maharashtra but were living in neighboring societies in Surat's Dindoli area. Investigators noted that they did not find any threatening messages or evidence suggesting the girls were being intimidated or coerced by anyone.

"We are awaiting the complete medical reports and the mobile phones have been sent for detailed forensic examination," Assistant Commissioner Gohil stated. "Call detail records and other electronic evidence will also be thoroughly analysed. The investigation will proceed systematically based on the reports and all available evidence."

The police continue their meticulous investigation into this heartbreaking case that has raised serious questions about mental health support for young adults, relationship pressures, and the disturbing accessibility of suicide methods through modern technology.
