In a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns about women's safety in urban areas, a 29-year-old woman employed in housekeeping services at a textile company in Surat was brutally raped in the Ichhapore police station jurisdiction on Sunday morning. The crime unfolded after the accused, posing as a potential employer, cunningly lured the victim away from public safety under the pretext of showing her a workplace.
Deceptive Job Offer Leads to Horrific Assault
The victim, who works as a housekeeping staff member at a textile firm in Ichhapore, was on her way to work on Sunday morning when she boarded a bus. A few stops later, the accused also boarded the same bus and initiated a conversation with her. He introduced himself as Avinesh Chaurasiya and deceitfully informed her that he needed to hire two or three women matching her profile for a company.
He elaborated that the job timings would be from 9 am to 4 pm, making it seem like a legitimate opportunity. After both alighted from the bus, the accused convinced the victim that the workplace was nearby and she could inspect it. Trusting his words, she agreed and accompanied him in an autorickshaw to the Ichhapore Diamond Bourse area.
Construction Site Becomes Scene of Crime
Upon reaching the location, the man led her to a construction site, falsely stating that she would be required to clean the fourth floor. It was at this point that the victim grew suspicious and attempted to flee, sensing danger. However, the accused quickly followed her, caught her, and used criminal force to rape her.
To compound the horror, he threatened her with a knife, warning that he would kill her if she did not stop crying or if she dared to speak about the incident to anyone. This act of criminal intimidation added to the trauma experienced by the victim, leaving her in a state of severe distress.
Police Action and Manhunt Underway
The Ichhapore police have promptly filed a formal complaint against the accused for rape and criminal intimidation.
