Chennai: An unclaimed baggage containing suspected narcotic drug parcels was recovered by Customs officials at the air cargo complex of Chennai airport after being found abandoned. A probe has been launched to identify the unknown individuals who left the bag there.
Incident Details
Sources revealed that the incident occurred a week ago at the air cargo complex, where private courier companies have offices to receive parcels for international shipping. Customs officials discovered a white powdery substance inside the box and suspect it could be a psychotropic substance. The material has been sent to a forensic laboratory for analysis.
Investigation Underway
Authorities believe that unknown persons intending to send the consignment to Malaysia may have abandoned it out of fear. Customs sleuths are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the individuals, as the address mentioned on the parcel turned out to be fake.

Last week, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) thwarted an attempt to smuggle 5 kg of crystal methamphetamine to Malaysia and arrested one person, Sivayogeswaran Rajkumar. He has since been remanded in judicial custody.
