Suspended Official Goes Missing After Suicide Message

A troubling incident has emerged from Vijayawada, where an assistant project manager, suspended over alleged irregularities in the Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA) groups, has gone missing after sending a message indicating his intention to end his life due to depression. The development has sparked serious concern among officials and his family, leading to a police search for Gandham Chandrasekhar.

Details of the Disappearance

Chandrasekhar, a resident of Sher Mohammed Pet village, reportedly sent text messages stating that he was under severe mental stress. Soon after dispatching the message, he switched off his phone and vanished. Police have launched efforts to trace him and investigate the circumstances leading to his disappearance.

Allegations of Irregularities

Before going missing, Chandrasekhar submitted a letter to the project director alleging irregularities in the formation of fake DWCRA groups in the Gollapudi cluster. He claimed that loans were being sanctioned through Mahila Samman Savings Certificate (MSCC), SBI Gollapudi branch, and other banks in the names of fictitious groups, with funds being collected illegally.

In the letter, Chandrasekhar asserted that he had no involvement in the alleged irregularities yet was suspended from service. He expressed deep disappointment that he had not been given a new posting for the past eight months, despite meeting several officials and public representatives seeking justice.

Ongoing Investigation

Police officials confirmed that efforts are underway to locate Chandrasekhar and understand the full context of his disappearance. The case has raised questions about the handling of whistleblowers and the pressures faced by employees in public service.
