Suzlon Administrator in Rajkot Faces FIR for Assault and Casteist Abuse
In a serious incident in Rajkot, Gujarat, an administrator from the prominent wind energy company Suzlon has been formally charged by police following allegations of physical assault and the use of derogatory casteist language against a local vehicle contractor. The First Information Report (FIR) was officially registered at the Jamjodhpur police station on Thursday, marking a significant legal development in the case.
Details of the Alleged Altercation and Assault
The complainant, identified as Kalpesh Solanki, detailed the events in his FIR, stating that the altercation took place on the night of April 11. The accused individual is Akshay Joshi, who holds an administrative position within Suzlon and is currently residing at the company's guest house located in the Jamjodhpur area of Rajkot.
According to the official police complaint, Kalpesh Solanki owns and operates a fleet of several cars along with an ambulance, all of which were under a contractual agreement to provide services to Suzlon. On the morning of April 11, Akshay Joshi abruptly informed Solanki and his business partners that their vehicles would no longer be utilized by the company. Joshi cited direct orders from higher management as the reason for this sudden termination of their contract.
Confrontation at the Suzlon Guest House
Seeking immediate clarification and resolution regarding the unexpected termination of their business agreement, Kalpesh Solanki, accompanied by his partners and drivers, proceeded to the Suzlon guest house around 9:30 PM on April 11. Their intention was to speak directly with the company's managers to address the issue.
A confrontation quickly erupted in the guest house hall when the group encountered Akshay Joshi. The FIR alleges that Joshi became enraged during this encounter. He is accused of subjecting Kalpesh Solanki to severe and offensive casteist slurs, specifically targeting Solanki's scheduled caste background while assertively proclaiming his own upper caste status.
The situation escalated further when Joshi allegedly resorted to physical violence. The complaint states that he grabbed Kalpesh Solanki, punched him forcefully in the chest, and issued direct threats to his life. Additionally, Joshi is accused of directing similarly derogatory and casteist remarks at Solanki's business partner, Sandipi, during the heated altercation.
Medical Emergency and Delayed FIR Filing
The day following the alleged assault, Kalpesh Solanki experienced severe medical symptoms including intense chest pain, significant anxiety, and breathing difficulties. Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was urgently rushed to the Jamjodhpur Government Hospital for immediate medical attention.
His condition necessitated a transfer to the more specialized GG Hospital located in Jamnagar for further treatment and monitoring. This medical emergency and his subsequent required hospitalization directly caused the delay in formally filing the police FIR, which was submitted once Solanki's health condition had stabilized sufficiently.
Legal Charges and Police Investigation
The Jamjodhpur police have invoked multiple serious legal sections against the accused, Akshay Joshi. These include Sections 115(2), 352, and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertain to various aspects of criminal intimidation, assault, and related offenses.
Furthermore, the police have also applied Sections 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s), and 3(2)(va) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. These sections specifically address offenses involving intentional insults, intimidation, and the use of casteist language with the intent to humiliate members of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, highlighting the gravity of the caste-based allegations in this case.
The investigation is currently ongoing as authorities work to gather additional evidence and statements from all involved parties to determine the full scope of the incident and appropriate legal proceedings.
