Sword attack in Cuttack: Three injured near Munduli canal chowk

In a shocking incident of brazen violence, three persons were attacked with swords by four unidentified miscreants near Munduli canal chowk under Baranga police station limits in Cuttack on Tuesday. The victims have been identified as Kahnu Dalei (25), Batua Rout (28), and Anil Lenka (26), all residents of Baranga. According to police, the three were sitting near the chowk when the attackers arrived on two motorcycles. Investigation Underway

Upon receiving information, personnel from Baranga police station reached the spot and launched an investigation. Police suspect that the attack could be linked to previous enmity. CCTV footage from nearby establishments and roads is being collected to identify the accused and trace their movement after the incident.

“Preliminary findings suggest past rivalry could be the reason behind the attack. CCTV footage is being examined and efforts are on to identify and nab the accused persons at the earliest,” said ACP Amitabh Mohapatra.

Public Fear and Concern

The brazen attack in broad daylight has created fear among local residents and shopkeepers in the area. “We are witnessing repeated sword attacks and violent incidents in the city every day for the past few days. People are now scared to even stand at public places. It seems criminals no longer fear the police or the law,” said Sudeep Prabhu, a resident of Baranga.

This incident follows a similar sword attack in the Lakheswar area just a day earlier, raising concerns about law and order in the city. Residents are demanding stricter police action and patrolling to prevent such incidents.

Police have assured that they are working diligently to apprehend the culprits and have urged the public to remain calm. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
