Man Hacks Two Relatives to Death with Sword in Karnataka Village
In a shocking incident of alcohol-fueled violence, a 60-year-old man allegedly hacked two people to death with a sword in Kanakandi, Kundachery village, located within the Bhagamandala police station limits of Karnataka. The brutal attack occurred late on Wednesday evening, resulting in the deaths of Yashoda, 50, and Kunharam, 55, both residents of the Kanakandi Scheduled Caste Colony in Kundachery village.
Details of the Fatal Attack
According to police reports, the accused, identified as Chandu, 60, was arrested by Bhagamandala police shortly after the incident. Preliminary investigations reveal that Chandu, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time, entered the house where Yashoda and Kunharam were resting. Armed with a sword, he launched a sudden and violent attack, killing both victims on the spot.
Police Superintendent RN Bindumani, who visited the crime scene for inspection, stated that the preliminary investigation indicates the motive stemmed from a long-standing family dispute. Chandu allegedly claimed that an illicit affair between Yashoda and Kunharam prompted him to commit the crime. Yashoda, who was unmarried, lived with her mother, Bellakki, while Kunharam was described as a close friend and relative.
Immediate Police Response and Arrest
Neighbors who witnessed Chandu leaving the house immediately alerted the authorities. Bhagamandala police responded swiftly, arriving at the scene and apprehending Chandu without delay. The police team included DSP Suraj, Circle Inspector Anoop Madappa, and In-charge Station Officer Dinesh, who were all present during the investigation.
