TCS Nashik Employee Sent to Judicial Custody

A sessions court at Nashik Road on Monday ordered judicial custody for a woman employee of TCS Nashik, who was arrested last Thursday from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. She is a co-accused in a case involving sexual exploitation and religious coercion of a female co-worker. The case also includes a team leader accused of sexually exploiting the co-worker on the promise of marriage and another colleague accused of sexual harassment. The woman employee is specifically charged with religious harassment.

Court Proceedings and Remand

The police produced her before Additional Sessions Judge Kedar Joshi at Nashik Road after her three-day custodial remand ended on Monday. Public prosecutor Ajay Misar stated, "The police have completed their recovery and did not seek further custodial interrogation," confirming the court's order sending her to jail under judicial custody.

Details of the Case

A total of nine cases have been registered involving eight accused, including two women from the TCS Nashik office. One of the women is an AGM (Delivery Partner). The first complaint alleged sexual exploitation and religious coercion. Subsequently, seven other co-workers filed complaints of sexual harassment, and a ninth complaint of religious coercion was lodged by a male employee.

Bail Applications for Other Accused

In a related development, the court of Additional Sessions Judge VV Kathare heard bail applications for six accused individuals, including five male employees and the company's AGM (Delivery Partner). The AGM is accused of failing to act on sexual harassment complaints from female staff.

Defense counsel Baba Sayyed argued, "Since the individuals have been suspended from TCS, there is no risk of them interfering with the workplace and neither would they be going anywhere else given that they are permanent residents of the city." Advocate Mayur Deshpande, representing the AGM, emphasized that the investigation was complete and his client remained committed to all court requirements.

The court has scheduled a hearing for Tuesday, where the police will present their response, after which a decision on the bail pleas is expected.
