A 30-year-old teacher was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old girl in Alang, Bhavnagar district. The arrest followed a complaint filed by the victim's father on Tuesday.
Background of the Case
The victim was a Class 10 student at a private school where the accused taught mathematics to Classes 9 and 10. Her family later transferred her to a different school for Class 11.
Sequence of Events
According to investigators, the girl left home on Monday under the pretext of attending school. The accused allegedly contacted her and instructed her to take a bus to Babra. Upon her arrival, he met her on his motorcycle and took her to his rented residence in Talaja, where the alleged assault occurred. The family became aware of the situation when the school informed them of her absence, prompting the girl to disclose the incident.
Action Taken
After the complaint was registered, the private school management dismissed the accused from his position. Police investigation also revealed that the teacher may have engaged in sexual relations with the victim approximately a month prior to this incident.
Accused's Profile
Investigating officer Priyanka Desai stated that preliminary inquiries confirmed the accused is married with a child and is originally from Sihor town in Bhavnagar district.
Legal Proceedings
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Talaja) M B Nakum said that the victim's statement was being recorded before a magistrate under Section 183 of the BNSS.
