Rajkot: A 30-year-old teacher was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old girl in Alang, Bhavnagar district, according to police.
Complaint and Investigation
The victim's father filed a complaint on Tuesday. The victim studied at a private school where the accused taught mathematics to Classes 9 and 10. She was a Class 10 student at the time but had been transferred to another school for Class 11.
Investigators said the girl left home on Monday pretending to go to school. The accused allegedly contacted her and instructed her to take a bus to Babra. He then met her on his motorcycle and took her to his rented residence in Talaja, where the assault occurred. The family learned of her absence when the school informed them, prompting the girl to disclose the incident.
Accused Dismissed and Background
After the complaint was registered, the private school management dismissed the accused. Police investigation suggests the teacher may have had sexual relations with the victim about a month earlier.
Investigating officer Priyanka Desai noted that preliminary inquiries confirmed the accused is married with a child and originally from Sihor town in Bhavnagar district.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Talaja) M B Nakum said the victim's statement was being recorded before a magistrate under Section 183 of the BNSS.
