Sultanpur Teacher Arrested for Kidnapping Class 3 Girl at Knifepoint
In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a government school teacher in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a Class 3 girl student at knifepoint and threatening to slit her throat if she raised an alarm. The accused, identified as Abdul Rashid (40), reportedly kept the child in a car for nearly two hours, roaming through forested areas, before abandoning her near a mosque.
Details of the Terrifying Ordeal
The incident occurred in the Chanda Kotwali area of Sultanpur on Wednesday afternoon after school hours. According to the child's statement to police, she was walking home alone after class when the teacher intercepted her from behind. He stopped his car and forcibly made her sit inside the vehicle, where two other men were also present.
The girl told investigators that a knife was placed in the front of the vehicle, and she was repeatedly threatened to remain silent. "He told me that if I spoke or screamed, he would cut my throat. Out of fear, I stayed quiet," the child reportedly stated. The accused then drove her around for nearly two hours through jungle areas before finally dropping her near a mosque located about one kilometre from her house.
Immediate Police Action and Official Response
After returning home, the traumatised girl narrated the ordeal to her family, prompting immediate panic and outrage. Her uncle, Vikas Shukla, subsequently lodged a formal complaint with the police. Circle Officer Lambhua Hritik Kumar confirmed that the accused teacher was arrested and produced before the court. Senior police officials said they were questioning the accused to determine the exact motive behind the kidnapping.
In a swift administrative response, the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA), Upendra Gupta, suspended the accused teacher from his duties. An inquiry was ordered, and the Block Education Officer (BEO) Karaudikala was directed to submit a detailed investigation report into the matter.
