The victim, identified as Subham Pradhan, was a Class VIII student from Parala village in the Krushnaprasad block near Chilika lake. According to police reports, the tragedy unfolded when an actor portraying Lord Hanuman made a dramatic leap into the crowd as part of the theatrical performance.
"Subham panicked when the Hanuman actor jumped into the audience," explained Bichitrananda Pradhan, inspector in-charge of Krushnaprasad police station. "As the actor playfully chased him in character, the boy ran toward what he thought was safety but instead collided with an unfenced electric transformer."
The immediate electrocution proved fatal for the teenager, whose body was later transported in a pick-up van due to the absence of proper ambulance or hearse services in the remote Krushnaprasad block.
Police Investigation and Community Response
Local authorities have registered a case of unnatural death and launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
