A festive wedding celebration in northwest Delhi turned deadly late Friday night when a violent altercation resulted in the stabbing death of a 17-year-old boy and left another teenager injured. The incident occurred in the Rani Bagh area around 11:15 PM, casting a shadow over what should have been a joyous occasion.
Escalation of a Quarrel Leads to Fatal Violence
According to police reports, the tragedy unfolded when a quarrel erupted between two groups of boys who were attending the wedding procession. The situation quickly escalated into a physical scuffle, during which a young man was attacked with a knife. Authorities have confirmed that the main accused, along with an accomplice, has been detained, and the knife allegedly used in the attack has been recovered.
Eyewitness accounts provide a heartbreaking narrative of the events. A friend of the deceased stated that the victim had attempted to step in and calm the situation, but was mistakenly targeted by another individual present at the venue. "Our friend had attended a wedding. While he was there, a scuffle broke out among some children. He must have stepped in to intervene," the friend explained. "An older individual present there saw the commotion, perhaps thinking he was hitting the children. They did not actually know whether he was hitting anyone or not. However, when he stepped into the middle of the altercation to intervene, that individual stabbed him with a knife."
The friend further revealed that two of their friends were stabbed in the incident. One succumbed to his injuries, while the other is currently hospitalized and undergoing treatment. Police are investigating whether the victim was directly involved in the fight or was merely attempting to act as a peacemaker.

The victim, identified as 22-year-old Arun Kumar from Burari, was found injured and later declared dead.
A case was registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Alipur police station. A special team led by Inspector Vivek, under the supervision of Inspector Shailender Sharma and ACP/SP Badli, was formed to track the accused. The police arrested the suspect, Arun Joshi (27), at the scene. A blood-stained knife believed to be the weapon used in the crime was recovered from his possession.
