Teenager Fleeing Home Abuse Gang Raped in Ganjam District
In a distressing incident, a 17-year-old girl from Andhra Pradesh, who had escaped her home in Kadapa district following alleged sexual abuse by her stepfather and mistreatment by her mother, was reportedly gang raped by two youths in Ganjam district on Sunday night. The police have since taken swift action, arresting the two youths and detaining a minor boy in connection with the crime.
Police Rescue and Investigation Details
Berhampur Superintendent of Police Saravana Vivek M confirmed that a police team rescued the girl on Monday after receiving critical information about the incident. An investigation was immediately launched to uncover the full scope of the events. Preliminary inquiries reveal that the survivor, after fleeing her home, arrived in Berhampur by train four days prior to the assault. During her time in the city, she found employment at a tea stall near the railway station and stayed with a couple who worked there. It was during this period that she came into contact with the 15-year-old boy involved in the case.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Assault
According to police reports, on Sunday night, the boy took the girl to his residence, where his mother was present. Later, the other two accused individuals, who reside in the same locality, arrived at the boy's home. They persuaded both the boy and the girl to accompany them to an isolated location. At this spot, the two adult youths allegedly committed the gang rape. The police have stated that the youths and the boy had reportedly consumed intoxicants before the assault, and authorities are currently working to verify the nature of these substances.
Aftermath and Ongoing Probe
Following her rescue, the girl was presented before the district child welfare committee and underwent a thorough medical examination. She has since been relocated to a childcare home for her safety and well-being. The police are not only investigating the specific details of this case but are also probing whether additional individuals were involved in the act. The arrests include two youths aged 19 and 22, along with the detention of the 15-year-old boy, highlighting the severity of the crime and the ongoing efforts to ensure justice.
