Teen found hanging in Muzaffarpur; family alleges murder

Patna: The body of a 16-year-old boy was discovered hanging from a litchi tree in the Laxmi Nagar area under the Ahiyapur police station in Muzaffarpur district on Sunday. The victim, identified as Kishan Kumar, had been missing since Saturday evening.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team arrived at the scene and recovered a cellphone and a pair of slippers. After a post-mortem examination at Shri Krishna Medical College Hospital (SKMCH), the body was handed over to the family.

Kishan's mother, Anita Devi, alleged that her son was murdered over a dispute related to eve-teasing. She stated, "My son was killed. He was beaten first and then his body was hanged from the tree by some local villagers." However, Kishan's brother told police that the teenager had been scolded at home over alleged drug use. He added, "Only the police investigation can make things clear."

Town DSP Vinita Singh said that based on the spot inspection and initial evidence, the case prima facie appears to be a suicide. She elaborated, "The family has alleged assault and murder by some villagers. Police are investigating all angles thoroughly. The exact cause of death will be clear only after the post-mortem report. Further action will depend on the post-mortem findings and the FSL report."

The incident has sparked tension in the locality, with locals demanding a fair investigation. Police have registered a case and are questioning suspects. The post-mortem report is awaited to determine the exact cause of death.
