A shocking incident unfolded in the Miranpur Katra area of Shahjahanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, where a Class 11 student was allegedly shot with an airgun by his friend while they were filming a social media reel. The victim, identified as Naitik Jaiswal, sustained a chest injury and is currently in critical condition, according to police reports.

Details of the Incident

The incident occurred around 5 PM on Saturday evening in Mohalla Kahran Bajariya. Police stated that the accused teenager visited Naitik's house and took him for a bike ride. During their outing, the two were engaged in shooting a reel with an airgun when the loaded weapon accidentally discharged. Preliminary investigations suggest the shooting may have been a mistake, leading the accused to flee the scene out of fear.

After being shot, Naitik managed to return home, where his shocked family immediately rushed him to a private hospital in Shahjahanpur. He was later transferred to a healthcare facility in Bareilly for further treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

Police Investigation and Response

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajesh Dwivedi of Shahjahanpur confirmed that the exact circumstances surrounding the firing incident are under thorough investigation. A senior officer added that a formal case will be registered once police receive a written complaint from the victim's family. The accused student remains at large as authorities continue their search.
