Telangana Man Detained at India-Pakistan Border in Jaisalmer, Claims Dubai Business Loss

In a significant security incident, a man from Telangana was detained on Wednesday for illegally attempting to cross the India-Pakistan border in the Pochhina area of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The individual, identified as Ashfaq Hussain (38), was allegedly trying to reach Dubai via Pakistan, raising serious concerns among border security agencies.

How the Incident Unfolded

The arrest occurred when a vigilant bus driver spotted Hussain in a restricted zone near the border. The driver immediately alerted authorities and handed him over to the Border Security Force (BSF). Following preliminary questioning, the BSF transferred Hussain to the Myajlar Police Station for further investigation.

Sajjan Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Myajlar Police Station, confirmed the details. He stated that after the initial handover, the Joint Interrogation Committee (JIC) began its interrogation on Thursday to delve deeper into the motives and circumstances surrounding the incident.

Hussain's Dubious Claims and Inconsistent Statements

During interrogation, Hussain presented a convoluted story to the authorities. He claimed that after the death of his parents, he sold his properties in Telangana and moved to Dubai in 2012, where he resided until 2017. According to his account, he invested Rs 25 lakh in a hotel business with a partner named Rajesh Chaudhary, a resident of Rajasthan.

Hussain alleged that the investment was facilitated with the help of Sajid from Bihar and Naseer, a Dubai-based associate. He insisted that the money was never returned, and Rajesh Chaudhary subsequently disappeared, leaving him in financial distress.

Hussain further claimed that he received information suggesting Rajesh was currently living in the Sam area of Jaisalmer. He traveled there in search of his former business partner but failed to locate him. In a state of confusion, he boarded a bus and inadvertently reached the border areas.

Deepening Mystery and Ongoing Investigation

However, officials have expressed skepticism about Hussain's narrative. They noted that he constantly changed his statements during the interrogation, which has only deepened the mystery surrounding his presence in the highly sensitive border zone. His claim of mistakenly arriving near the border while traveling on a bus has been met with scrutiny.

Police revealed that agencies are actively investigating his foreign travel records and contacts to verify his assertions. Key aspects under examination include:

  • His mobile data and call records
  • His connections and activities in Dubai
  • The validity of his passport and Dubai visa, which were found in his possession

Notably, no mobile phone was recovered from Hussain at the time of his detention, adding another layer of complexity to the case.

Legal Implications and Next Steps

Hussain has been taken into custody for entering a restricted area, a serious offense under Indian law. The Joint Interrogation Committee (JIC) is continuing its thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind his motives and any potential security threats.

Officials have emphasized that legal action will be pursued once the JIC completes its probe. The case highlights the vigilance of border security forces and the ongoing challenges in monitoring illegal border crossings, especially in regions like Jaisalmer, which are critical to national security.
