Three Arrested After Police Encounter Over Alleged Cow Slaughter in Meerut
Police in Meerut have arrested three individuals in connection with an alleged case of cow slaughter, officials confirmed on Monday. The arrests followed a dramatic encounter in the Sardhana area on Sunday night, where authorities recovered approximately one quintal of beef and a cow from the suspects' possession.

According to police reports, a patrol team acted on a specific tip-off regarding suspected cow slaughter activities in a forested area near Nagla Order village along the Ganga Canal. When officers arrived at the location and attempted to detain the suspects, the accused allegedly opened fire on the police personnel.
In what authorities described as an act of self-defence, police returned fire during the confrontation. One of the accused, identified as Monish, sustained injuries in the exchange and was subsequently transported to a community health centre for medical treatment.
Two additional suspects, Dilshad alias Dillu and Sartaj alias Dhamaka, were taken into custody at the scene. However, police confirmed that several other individuals managed to escape during the chaotic incident. A comprehensive search operation is currently underway to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects.

From the crime scene, authorities confiscated substantial evidence including illegal firearms, multiple cartridges, various tools allegedly used in the slaughter process, and a vehicle.
