Three Bihar Police SHOs killed in Begusarai accident

Begusarai: A routine journey home after a day of official duty ended in tragedy when three station house officers (SHOs) of Bihar Police and a private driver were killed in a road accident in Begusarai in the early hours of Friday.

Details of the Accident

Police Investigation

Begusarai SP Manish said the accident took place between 12:30 am and 1 am. "The bodies of the cops were sent to Madhepura after following due legal procedures and protocols. As per preliminary investigation, the accident took place due to loss of control of the vehicle. However, further investigation will only confirm the exact cause of the incident," he said, adding that both the truck and the SUV had been seized.

Eyewitness Accounts

Residents said the impact was so powerful that more than half of the SUV ended up beneath the rear of the truck. "We heard a loud thud before rushing out to see what had happened. The crash was so severe that more than half of the car had got under the rear of the truck," said a local.

Police said the vehicle was mangled beyond recognition and a crane had to be brought in to pull it out from beneath the truck. It took more than an hour to recover the occupants trapped inside. Sajan was still alive when rescuers reached him and was rushed to the local sadar hospital. However, he later succumbed to his injuries. The front portion of the SUV was crushed up to the steering wheel, while the roof, doors and rear section were extensively damaged.

Government Response

CM Samrat Choudhary expressed grief over the tragedy. In a message on X, Samrat described the incident as deeply moving and said the government stood with the bereaved families in this difficult hour.
