Three Separate Fatal Accidents and Temple Disturbance Reported in Karnataka
In a tragic series of events on Monday, three separate road accidents resulted in fatalities across the Udupi and Mangaluru regions of Karnataka, while a separate incident of public disturbance was reported during a temple festival in Puttur.
First Accident: Padubidri-Karkala Road Collision
A 62-year-old man, identified as Ashok Bhandary, lost his life after the two-wheeler he was riding collided with a tipper truck on the Padubidri-Karkala Road. According to police reports, Bhandary was traveling from Padubidri to Karkala with a pillion rider when the incident occurred.
As he attempted to overtake a heavy vehicle, his two-wheeler struck the tipper truck, causing severe injuries to his chest and hand. Despite being rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru for emergency treatment, doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The Padubidri police have registered a case in connection with the accident and are investigating the exact circumstances.
Second Accident: Kaup Village Truck-Scooter Crash
In another fatal road accident reported in Moodabettu village, Kaup, a two-wheeler rider died after a truck hit his vehicle. The deceased has been named as Bhimappa Hunnalli. Police stated that the truck driver, who was heading from Udupi towards Mangaluru, drove negligently and collided with the front left side of a scooter.
The impact caused the rider and the passenger, identified as Sagar, to fall onto the divider along with the scooter. Local residents quickly responded, lifting the injured individuals and providing assistance. An ambulance transported both to a hospital in Udupi for medical care.
- Bhimappa Hunnalli sustained a severe head injury and was pronounced dead by doctors at the hospital.
- Sagar suffered minor injuries and is receiving treatment.
The Kaup police have registered a case against the truck driver and are conducting further inquiries into the incident.
Third Incident: Manipal Car Crash
A third tragic accident was reported in Eshwara Nagara, Manipal, where a 21-year-old man died after the car he was driving hit a bus stand. The deceased has been identified as Karthikeya Sharma. Details surrounding the crash are still under investigation by the Manipal police, who have registered a case to determine the cause.
Separate Incident: Temple Festival Disturbance in Puttur
In an unrelated event, the Puttur town police took two individuals into custody for allegedly causing a disturbance and disrupting public peace during the festival at Puttur Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple on Monday.
Police reported that a case under Section 194(2) of the BNS was registered against Harsha Gopal, 29, from Narimogaru, and Harish, 42, from Kabaka. Despite being advised to stop, the individuals continued their altercation, leading to their detention. Authorities are reviewing the situation to ensure public safety during such cultural events.
These incidents highlight ongoing concerns about road safety and public order in the region, with police investigations underway in all cases.
