Three Suspects Apprehended in Tarn Taran for Mobile Tower Component Theft
In a significant crackdown on telecom infrastructure crime, the Bhikhiwind police have successfully arrested three individuals involved in the theft of major and expensive parts from mobile towers in Tarn Taran. The incident, which occurred on Friday, has drawn attention to the vulnerabilities in critical communication networks.
Details of the Arrest and Accused
The police confirmed on Sunday that the accused have been identified as Sandeep Singh, Maninderjit Singh, and Harashdeep Singh, all residents of Bala Chack in Tarn Taran. The case came to light when Narinder Singh, the legal manager of the GO Company, reported the matter to the authorities. He stated that the suspects were attempting to flee after stealing a Radio Remote Head (RRH), a crucial component responsible for generating internet signals on mobile towers.
A team from the GO Company managed to nab the three suspects as they were escaping with the company's tower apparatus. The individuals were identified on the spot, leading to their immediate detention. The police have booked the accused under Section 303(3) of the BNS, highlighting the serious nature of the offense.
Impact on Telecom Infrastructure
The theft of RRH components poses a severe threat to telecom infrastructure, as these parts are essential for maintaining internet connectivity and mobile signals. Such criminal activities can lead to widespread service disruptions, affecting both residential and commercial users in the region. The incident underscores the need for enhanced security measures around critical communication installations.
Authorities are now investigating whether the accused were part of a larger network involved in similar thefts across the area. The police have urged telecom companies to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly to prevent further incidents.
This arrest serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges in safeguarding telecom assets and the importance of collaborative efforts between law enforcement and private companies to combat infrastructure-related crimes.
