In a series of coordinated operations on Tuesday, police in three stations of Tarn Taran district—Chabal, Sarai Amanat Khan, and Patti Sadar—recovered a combined total of 775 grams of heroin. The seizures led to the arrest of three accused and registration of multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Patti Sadar Operation: 150 grams heroin, air pistol seized
ASI Harpal Singh of the Patti Sadar police reported that 150 grams of heroin, Rs 1,400 in alleged drug money, an air pistol, and four mobile phones were confiscated from an accused near Dana Mandi in Varnala village. The suspect was identified as Kulwant Singh, a resident of Bhagupur village. A case has been registered against him under Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act, along with relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.
Chabal Police Arrest Two with 112 grams Heroin
In a separate incident, the Chabal police recovered 112 grams of heroin from two individuals: Malkit Singh, alias Meet, a resident of Maluwal Santan, and Mehtab Singh, a resident of Panjwar Khurd village. A case was registered against both accused under the NDPS Act.
Sarai Amanat Khan Recovery: 513 grams from Agricultural Fields
In a third operation, the Sarai Amanat Khan police recovered a packet containing 513 grams of heroin from agricultural fields in Gehri village. The recovered contraband included 16 grams of packing material. A case was registered against an unidentified person in connection with the recovery.
The combined haul of 775 grams of heroin underscores the ongoing efforts by Tarn Taran police to curb drug trafficking in the region. All three cases have been registered under the NDPS Act, with further investigations underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify any larger networks.
