Three held with MDMA, cannabis in T'puram

Thiruvananthapuram: Three individuals were arrested with MDMA and cannabis during a raid conducted by the excise department under Operation Thunder at Alamkode Kochuvila near Chirayinkeezhu. Officials stated that the accused were allegedly planning to distribute the narcotics among school students in the area.

Arrests and Seizures

The arrested individuals have been identified as Robin Raj (26), Johar (26), both from Navaikulam, and Ansar (38) from Kallambalam. The excise team seized 3.41 grams of MDMA and 3 grams of cannabis from their possession.

Operation Details

According to excise officials, the arrests were made based on a confidential tip-off. The suspects and the area had been under surveillance for some time as part of intensified anti-narcotics operations being carried out across the district. The raid was conducted by the Chirayinkeezhu Excise Range team led by excise inspector Sajan C.

Legal Proceedings

The accused were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody. Further investigation is under way to ascertain the source of the drugs and whether more persons were involved in the distribution network, officials said.
