Three Killed, Including Child, in Bihar Highway Bus-Truck Collision
A devastating road accident on National Highway 19 in Bihar's Kaimur district resulted in the tragic deaths of three individuals, including a young girl, and left multiple others injured in the early hours of Sunday morning. The collision involved a double-decker passenger bus and a truck near Nasej Gumti under the Kudra police station jurisdiction.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The ill-fated bus was transporting approximately seventy passengers from Jamshedpur to Varanasi when the catastrophe unfolded. According to police reports, the vehicle had made a brief stop at a roadside dhaba for tea. Merely fifty meters after resuming its journey, a truck approaching from the opposite direction lost control, veered across the highway divider, and crashed directly into the bus.
The impact, occurring around 4:30 AM, was exceptionally severe, causing extensive damage to the bus structure. The collision proved fatal for three passengers who succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The victims have been identified as Vinay Kumar Singh (41) from Ambedkar Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh, Abha Rani (45) from Varanasi, and Dikshita Patel (9), also a resident of Varanasi.
Emergency Response and Aftermath
Following the accident, a National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) patrolling team promptly arrived at the location and initiated coordinated rescue operations with local police forces. First aid was administered to the injured individuals at the accident site before they were transferred to medical facilities for comprehensive treatment. The deceased victims' bodies were transported to Bhabhua for postmortem examinations.
The collision caused significant disruption to highway traffic flow, but normal movement was restored after damaged vehicles were cleared using crane assistance. Police authorities have seized the truck involved in the collision, though the driver reportedly fled the scene and remains at large as investigations continue.
