Gorakhpur: Three members of a family, including a husband, wife and their son, were killed while their minor daughter sustained critical injuries after a motorcycle collided with a tanker in Kushinagar district on Tuesday.

Details of the Incident

According to CO (Khadda) Virendra Kumar Singh, the accident took place around 6.30 am near Nirbhaya Salalveer Filling Station at Khotahi on the Kaptanganj-Nebua Naurangiya road under Ramkola police station limits.

The victims were identified as Ramlakhan Madheshiya (38), his wife Shashikala (35) and their son Raunak (11), residents of Ward No. 9 in Pipraich. The family was travelling on a motorcycle to Madanpur Devi Sthan in neighbouring Bihar for darshan when the vehicle collided with an oncoming tanker.

Impact and Response

Police said the impact was severe, killing Ramlakhan and Raunak on the spot. Shashikala and the couple's daughter, Lado (14), were rushed to the community health centre in Captainganj, where doctors declared Shashikala dead. Lado, who suffered serious injuries, was later referred to BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur for advanced treatment.

Family members said Ramlakhan, who jointly operated a sweet shop in Pipraich with his brother, was known for his devotion and frequently visited temples with his family on Tuesdays.

Police reached the spot soon after receiving information, seized the tanker involved in the accident and initiated legal proceedings. The bodies were sent for post mortem, while further investigation is underway, Singh said.
