Three youths have been arrested by the Panchkula police in connection with a double murder case that occurred in Sector 19 on Sunday. The arrested individuals have been identified as Vipin, Prem Chand, and Sukhpreet Singh, alias Lucky, all residents of Abhaypur. A local court has remanded them to two-day police custody for further investigation.
Investigation and Recovery of Vehicles
The police are currently working to recover a scooter and a motorcycle that were allegedly used in the commission of the crime. Raids are continuing to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the incident. The investigation is being led by Kamaldeep Singh, the in-charge of the Sector 19 police post.
Details of the Incident
On July 4, the police received information about Sanjeet, a resident of Sector 19, who had died from serious injuries inflicted by sharp-edged weapons. During the initial inquiry, the crime scene was identified near an open area close to the CID underpass. A short distance away, the police discovered another body, later identified as Arjun, a resident of Kharak Mangoli. He too had succumbed to injuries from sharp-edged weapons.
Motive Behind the Murders
During the investigation, Arjun's sister revealed that her brother had been in a relationship with Sanjeet's sister for several years and that the couple had married in a temple. Subsequently, they began living separately from their families. This led to enmity between Sanjeet and Arjun. It is alleged that Arjun was lured to a ceremony, where Sanjeet and his associates attacked him with sharp-edged weapons. Sanjeet was also killed in the violent clash that ensued.
Police Statement
According to Panchkula Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Srishti Gupta, a detailed investigation into the case is ongoing. The police are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice.
