In a decisive move to maintain public order, the Tirunelveli district police have taken stringent legal action against individuals accused of using social media platforms to incite violence and disrupt communal harmony. Authorities have registered a total of 11 cases across various police stations and apprehended four people, including two juveniles, for their alleged involvement in circulating provocative online content.

Law enforcement officials launched a comprehensive investigation into social media activity, targeting posts that spread caste-based hatred and promote communal discord. According to police reports, the enforcement action has already led to the apprehension of two adults: Muthukumar, aged 27, and Alexander, aged 63. Additionally, two juveniles were taken into custody in connection with the inflammatory posts. District Superintendent of Police V Prassanna Kumar has issued a categorical warning that anyone found engaging in unlawful activities on social media will face strict and impartial legal consequences. He stated that the district police are now closely monitoring all social media platforms to identify those posting content that threatens public order.
"No attempt to destabilize the region through digital provocation will be tolerated," Kumar emphasized. The police department has reiterated its commitment to maintaining social harmony and has appealed to the general public to exercise responsibility while using social media.
