A shocking incident of murder followed by suicide has left the Korlagunta locality in Tirupati in a state of shock. The tragedy, which unfolded on Tuesday, claimed the lives of a middle-aged man and a married woman he was reportedly in a relationship with.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The police identified the deceased man as Somasekhar, a native of Guthivari Palli in Renigunta mandal. He worked as a gas cylinder delivery boy in Tirupati and was living alone in a rented house at Maruthi Nagar, having separated from his wife. The woman was identified as Lakshmi, who worked at a samosa stall located at the APSRTC bus stand in Tirupati.
According to Tirupati East CI Srinivasulu, the two had developed a relationship. However, recent times saw differences arising between them. In a fateful turn of events, Somasekhar invited Lakshmi to his rented home on Monday night. He reportedly told her that he wanted to meet her for one last time.
The Fatal Argument and Aftermath
After Lakshmi arrived at the house in Maruthi Nagar, a heated argument broke out between the two. In what the police describe as a fit of rage, Somasekhar slit Lakshmi's throat, leading to her immediate death.
Following the brutal act, Somasekhar took his own life. He hanged himself from the ceiling of the same house. The double death sent shockwaves through the quiet neighbourhood, with residents alerting the authorities.
