Tractor driver beheaded in Gopalganj, family cites land dispute

Patna: The beheaded body of a 60-year-old tractor driver was found in a sugarcane field near the Amwa-Vijaypur embankment in the Chavar area under Vishvambharpur police station in Gopalganj district on Friday night. The victim, identified as Mohammad Mustafa, a resident of Sirisiya village under Kuchaykot police station, was discovered after locals spotted an abandoned motorcycle near the field. A search led to the headless body, prompting police to cordon off the area and call a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team.

Family Alleges Land Dispute

Mustafa's wife claimed that her husband executed a land deed on June 9, transferring nearly 10 acres of land to a neighbor. The family opposed the sale and requested villagers not to purchase the land, but the property was registered in the neighbor's name. On June 10 night, Mustafa received a phone call and left home, saying he was going to meet someone. His phone was switched off around 8pm, and his body was found two days later. The family suspects the buyer killed Mustafa over non-payment of the agreed amount.

Police Investigation Underway

Vishvambharpur SHO Mukendra Kumar said that prima facie, a wild animal may have gnawed off the victim's head after death. However, all angles, including the family's allegations, are being investigated. The exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report. FSL teams collected fingerprints and evidence from the spot before sending the body to Sadar hospital for autopsy.
