Trader Abducted and Brutally Tortured Over Live-In Relationship in Gujarat's Tharad
A shocking case of abduction and torture has emerged from Tharad in Gujarat, where a 26-year-old trader was allegedly subjected to brutal violence over his live-in relationship with a married woman. The incident, which occurred on April 2, has led to the filing of a detailed FIR with Tharad police, highlighting a prolonged and vicious assault that has left the victim hospitalized.
Details of the Alleged Abduction and Assault
According to the complaint filed on Saturday, the trader was taken from his rented home late on April 2 by a group of men. The assailants, who initially claimed to be taking the couple to the police station, instead robbed them of mobile phones, documents, Rs 32,000 in cash, and the woman's gold ornaments. They were then separated, with the victim being forced into another vehicle and taken to an isolated field.
The victim described a harrowing ordeal where he was beaten, humiliated, and told that his "time was up." He alleged being forced into the boot of a car and driven to multiple locations, where the torture escalated. In a disturbing twist, a caller speaking to one of the assailants allegedly claimed to be "speaking on behalf of an MLA" and urged severe punishment for the man.
Extreme Torture and Degradation Detailed in FIR
The FIR outlines extreme acts of torture, including the victim being injected with an unknown substance and assaulted with pipes and belts. He was allegedly made to wear women's clothes and forced to dance while being filmed, adding a layer of humiliation to the physical violence. The assailants further denied him drinking water, forcing him to consume water from a toilet, and made him ingest another substance that caused him to lose consciousness.
Aftermath and Police Response
After the brutal assault, the victim was abandoned near a village in an unconscious state. Locals alerted emergency services, and he is currently receiving treatment at a hospital. Police officers have confirmed that multiple accused have been named in the case, and investigations are underway to apprehend those responsible.
The victim stated in the FIR that he had been in a relationship with the woman for nearly three years, and despite her being married, they decided to live together as partners. The couple had moved cities, rented a house, and taken up jobs before this incident unfolded, underscoring the personal nature of the attack.
This case has raised serious concerns about vigilante justice and the safety of individuals in live-in relationships in the region, prompting calls for swift action from law enforcement authorities.
